Chargers
Inverter chargers combine
an inverter and a battery charger
in one complete unit. They can be used with a solar
PV array or wind turbine power system or when
another there is another AC power source available,
such as a diesel generator or utility power. They can
operate as uninterruptible power supplies (UPS). These
intelligent devices can behave either as an inverter
or a charger and can switch between one and other as
required. Inverter chargers can be connected to the
electricity grid, but they are not grid tied inverters.
Victron Pure Sine Wave Inverter
Chargers have all the features of an advanced
sine wave inverter and battery
charger in one compact enclosure.
A unique AC power management system will prevent overload
of a limited AC source. First, battery charging will
automatically be reduced when otherwise an overload
would occur. The second level will boost the output
of a generator or shore side supply with power taken
from the battery: where peak power is often required
only for a limited period, the Phoenix MultiPlus will
make sure that insufficient shore or generator power
is immediately compensated for by power from the battery.

The Multi gets its name from the multiple functions
it can perform.
It is a powerful true sine wave inverter, a sophisticated
battery charger that features adaptive charge
technology, and a high-speed AC transfer switch
in a single compact enclosure. Beside these primary
functions, however, the Multi has several advanced
features that provide a range of new applications
as outlined in the product specifications.

MultiPlus Compact Inverter/Chargers
The feature that distinguishes the Phoenix MultiPlus
from the standard Multi is PowerAssist. This feature
takes the principle of PowerControl to a further
dimension allowing the MultiPlus to supplement
the capacity of the alternative source. Where
peak power is so often required only for a limited
period, the Phoenix MultiPlus will make sure that
insufficient shore or generator power is immediately
compensated for by power from the battery. When
the load reduces, the spare power is used to recharge
the battery.
Note: shore / grid capacity should be at least
25 %, and generator capacity should be at least
75 % of installed MultiPlus capacity.
